Our Initial Visits to Uganda 2008 and 2009

2008 Visit - About two weeks in June 2008

Our Introduction to Uganda as part of a team with David Young and his Children For Christ program (June 2008) on David's team to run an outreach/games/craft program in 18 rural schools in the Kamuli district in Uganda.

Lunch at the only Aussie restaurant in Uganda (in Jinja).

Training some local teachers to help with the
school program when it comes to their school.

Kids proudly showing their craft work.

A 'little bit' crowded ...

Teachers watching the program.

Gospel portions given to the older children,
probably their only book!

Typical of a poor rural area where the kids can't
afford to attend school.

Helping make flying eagles.

Attentive listeners to David's gospel presentation.

Well received gift of a soccer ball and netball to the school.

A game of poison ball is always enjoyed.

David presents a gospel story.

Making a commitment to Jesus.

Waiting for the program to start.

Proudly displaying craft.

Always some kids to chase the cars when we  leave a school

Spectators gather from nowhere when our car gets stuck on a road.

This is how you line up in Uganda - all squashed together ..

Awaiting instructions on how to make the craft ..

Pam (and Allan a little bit) helped the Orange team with some medical clinics.

We fit in a two day tourist visit the Murchinson Falls National Park
in north western Uganda (close to DR Congo).

We saw lots of wildlife in the Park.

A giraffe (in case you didn't know what one looked like)..

Elephants - we didn't know at the time but with elephants close by on
both sides of the vehicle we were in danger of being charged,
the armed guide was rather nervous..

In Murchinson Falls National Park with our driver.

Hippos in the Albert Nile.

Boat trip on the Albert Nile.

Pastor Fred tries on my Aussie hat.

Rapids at Murchinson falls on the Albert Nile.

Meeting with the Bezallel Board - these are the people we will be working closely with.

The donated land where we hope to build the Learning Centre.

Pastor Rogers and his wife Ruth that we visited in another area (Mayuge).

Visiting Bosco, one of the children we sponsor.

Visiting Adison, Julius and Agnes - sibling children we sponsor.

We'd like sponsors as well!
Children from a village near some of our sponsored children

A street in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
Trucks come from Kenya and Sudan to buy food that people sell for some
cash income - as a result people are often go hungry in the dry seasons.
